Re: Is Super 32 the next big junior level tournament?

I think it is the next biggie.

People may disagree, but I think it might be fair to say that Super 32 can have a lot of the top wrestlers in most weights, but maybe the depth is not as great as you see at Fargo. So at most weights, the semis are going to feature a lot of the top national names, maybe even the quarters. But before that, there's a greater variety.

Wrestlers do have to qualify for Super 32, I think that means top 2 in your state, maybe top 3 or 4 from a PA or Ohio, but that still allows quite a few wrestlers to go if they want the challenge. For example, VA has 6 divisions plus the private schools (crazy!). So up to 12 guys from VA could say they are qualified at each weight. Whereas for Fargo, each state is picking 1 guy to rep the state, plus maybe a few fill ins.

I'm not knocking it however. I remember seeing Sam Krivius (now at UVA) and Dom Demas (probably going to OSU) in my son's division a couple years ago. That's serious talent.

A super 32 belt is a great accomplishment.
